Dail started his musical career in 1997, when Matt Hernandez, who would later join Unashamed and The Dingees, left Project 86. They recorded their debut self titled album in 1998 on BEC Recordings. In 2000, the band recorded their second album, ''Drawing Black Lines'', this time with Tooth & Nail Records and Atlantic Records. In 2001, Dail formed the band Crash Rickshaw with P86 drummer Alex Albert and Joby Harris as the vocalist. Randy Torres joined soon after, and they released their self titled debut. In 2002, ''Truthless Heroes'' was released. ''Songs to Burn Your Bridges By'' was released in 2003. ''...And the Rest Will Follow'' was released in 2005. In 2006, Dail joined the band Starflyer 59 and released his SF59 debut. In 2007, Dail formed Neon Horse with Mark Salomon formerly of Stavesacre and Jason Martin of Starflyer 59. ''Rival Factions'', ''The Kane Mutiny EP'', ''This Time of Year EP'' came out in 2007. In 2007, Crash Rickshaw released ''The Unknown Clarity'' and went on an unofficial hiatus. In 2009, Dail's last P86 record was released the same year as Neon Horse broke up. Soon after leaving P86, and Neon Horse breaking up, Dail formed White Lighter with Mark Salomon (who was also in Neon Horse). The band released their self-titled debut album in 2014.
